SPAIN --- The Spanish magazine Car and Driver compared the Jaguar XFR 5.0 Supercharged 510hp,
Mercedes E 63 AMG 525hp and Porsche Panamera Turbo 500hp.
AJ-V8 Gen III: this is the name of the engine that Jaguar developed for the XFR. Its cylinder capacity has
increased from 4.2 to 5.0 liters. It has an improved Roots compressor (we no longer hear any shrill whistling)
and more than 500hp, and we can feel the soft leather seats against our backs as the XFR accelerates from
0 to 100km/h in five seconds. Another major improvement is the Active Differential Control system, which
sends torque to the rear wheel with the best grip. On slippery roads, it guarantees more efficiency and safety.
The automatic transmission is an updated version of Jaguar‟s usual ZF, which has a reinforced clutch.
Engineered for smooth performance, it isn‟t as sporty or rough as the transmissions in its rivals when
operating in sequential mode. With its audible changes in tone, the Jaguar‟s engine does not sound as
hoarse as that of the Mercedes or thunderous as that of the Porsche while accelerating. When we listen to all
three cars together, it‟s like a concert of baritones that would instantly seduce any fan of large V8 engines.
In the new Jaguar XFR, we immediately notice that the Adaptive Dynamic Suspension system is much more
precise than the previous CATS suspension. On the racetrack, the Jaguar cannot keep up with the radical
Mercedes and Porsche. Less extreme, more affordable and more practical in general, the XFR is the car that
I choose to drive back to work, enjoying its praiseworthy elegance, comfort and velvety smooth power.
